Back in early 2022, we were contacted by the National Trust to look at an existing play area at their Rotherfield Grey’s site, Grey’s Court, situated in Henley-on-Thames. An existing piece of play equipment desperately needed replacing due to rot and it also did not comply to safety standards and regulations. The play area was situated within a woodland area, with a steep gradient and lots of Ash trees so was going to be a difficult site to work with!

The client required the equipment to be natural and in-keeping with the area so we proposed to remove the existing equipment and replace it with one of our Treehouse Towers, the Hawthorn! This unit features extended upright posts with angled timbers, to act as branches, also hosting green HDPE plastic tree canopy panels, engraved with leaves, keeping the equipment ingognito amongst the existing trees.

They loved our proposal and in March 2022, we received the go ahead on the order and initiated the technical drawings and manufacturing process! We had to allow for a longer slide due to the gradient of the site, making this a tricky project to execute.

We successfully installed the Hawthorn in May 2022 and have since been back to look at the play area to potentially extend the Hawthorn and look at other areas to further develop!
