Shorefield Country Park in Milford on Sea asked us to design a new play area for older children. The park already had a sea-themed area for children up to 8 years old. The new space needed to cater to older kids but still allow younger ones to explore.
Inspired by The Needles, we designed a custom Lighthouse Tower connected to a climbing structure by a rope bridge. Standing almost 4 meters tall, the structure adds challenge and adventure while meeting BS EN 1176 regulations and specification. The colour red was chosen to be in-keeping with the famous Isle of Wight landmark.
The playground also includes a Cloud Peak and two sunken trampolines, encouraging inclusive play for all ages. We installed fencing, gates, and safety surfacing for security, with blue wetpour under the Lighthouse and colourful rubber mulch around the other structures to enhance imaginative play.
