Shorefield Country Park in Milford on Sea approached us to design a new play area catering to older children. The park’s existing sea-themed area served younger children up to 8 years old. So the new space needed to offer challenges for older kids while still being accessible for younger ones to explore.

Drawing inspiration from the iconic Needles on the Isle of Wight, we designed a custom Lighthouse Tower that stands almost 4 meters tall. The tower is connected to a climbing structure by a rope bridge, adding adventure and excitement. To ensure safety, the structure meets BS EN 1176 regulations and specifications. The chosen red colour complements the landmark’s hues, blending the play area with its coastal surroundings.

In addition to the Lighthouse Tower, the playground includes a Cloud Peak, encouraging children to climb and balance. Two sunken trampolines add an extra dimension, fostering inclusive play that engages children of all abilities. The play area is designed for active exploration, allowing children to challenge themselves physically and use their imagination.

We also installed security features such as fencing, gates, and safety surfacing. Blue wetpour under the Lighthouse Tower ensures safe play, while colourful rubber mulch surrounding the other structures enhances the aesthetic appeal and imaginative experience. The new play area provides a dynamic space where children of various ages can play together, fostering creativity, physical development, and social interaction.
