Ordnance House, dedicated to serving military families, offers a range of services including welfare support, toddler groups, and family fun days. The garden, previously equipped with aging metal equipment, needed a complete upgrade. With no space limitations, our team collaborated with staff to explore different ideas during our initial site visit. The key priorities identified were a toddler scooter track, imaginative play features, accessible swings, and a unique trim trail to encourage active, inclusive play.

The installation process kicked off in June 2022. Phase 1 saw the addition of exciting new features, including the Buccaneer Pirate Ship, Mini Playhouse, Inclusive Swing Set, and Wetpour Scooter Track. The old equipment was carefully removed, and we expanded the base to accommodate the new units. These additions provided a safe, stimulating environment for young children to engage in active play.

Phase 2 included the Pico Eagle, Mini Mountain, and trim trail features like Combo Crawl, Crag Walk, and Rope Weaver. These elements provide physical challenges, promoting active play and development. Over two weeks, we made adjustments and ensured everything was ready for the returning groups in September.

The new space offers diverse play opportunities, engaging children of all abilities. It encourages exploration, climbing, balancing, and coordination, fostering both physical and imaginative play.

The transformation has been a success. The space is now inclusive, dynamic, and has been well-received by staff and families alike.
