After completing Phase 1 during the Easter holidays, we began Phase 2 in July 2022, ready to create another exciting play space for Hockley Primary School.

The second area, the adventure play zone, already had a large play unit and monkey bars, but they were outdated and needed replacing. To save costs, the school’s maintenance team removed the old equipment before our arrival.

Initially, we considered installing our Buccaneer Pirate Ship, but since the play area is located near a wooded area, it felt more fitting to go with a castle theme. We proposed The Westbrook Keep, a popular four-tower play unit that offers endless play opportunities. With green HDPE panels, rock holds, and rope features, it looked stunning against the natural backdrop. Headteacher Dave Jenkins was thrilled with the proposal!

The final plan included The Westbrook Keep, some low-level trim trail items, and black wetpour safety surfacing. All equipment was installed on steel feet to prevent ground rot and extend the lifespan of the timber.

The Westbrook Keep features:

Pull-up rope access ramp

Rockhold climbing wall

Rattle and angled balance bridges

Timber octagonal tunnel

HDPE slide

Fire pole, scramble net, and more!

Designed for physical and imaginative play, it allows multiple children to play together, with a lower tower for younger kids to access easily.

This project was completed in under two weeks, with minimal disruption, as most of the equipment was pre-assembled off-site.
