Sawscapes Play - CASE STUDY FOUR MARKS PARISH COUNCIL

We were approached by Sarah Gondie, the Four Marks Parish Council Clerk, to help replace a unit in their existing play area. The council sought a timber play structure that would challenge older children while retaining essential climbing and sliding features. In response, we designed the Brislands Climber, a thrilling unit featuring three platforms connected by stepping logs, a cargo net, trapeze rings, and a wobble bridge. To enhance play value, we included exit points like a fireman’s pole, a pull-up ramp, and a slide.

Working within the £10,000 budget, we suggested rubber grass mats for safety surfacing, offering ground protection and shock absorption. The council expressed concerns about strimmers damaging the timber posts, as seen with the previous unit. We discussed various options and provided quotes. The council chose rubber-bonded mulch in a natural brown colour to protect the posts. We completed the installation before the school holidays.

We completed the installation just in time for the school holidays. The local children were eager to try out the new play equipment, quickly making it a favourite spot. The revamped play area has become a popular destination in Four Marks Parish, offering children a safe, exciting environment to play and explore. The Brislands Climber has transformed the space into a more challenging and dynamic play zone for older children.

“The equipment was provided to replace a similar piece that was at the end of its shelf life. The replacement equipment was designed, manufactured and installed to a very high standard and has been a great addition to the children’s play area, and being a focal point, has been well used by all ages since its installation” – Four Marks Parish Council
