The Pico Eagle is a fantastic new addition to the playground at Compton & Up Marden C of E Primary School, enhancing opportunities for active play and physical development. This versatile log climber offers safe climbing, crawling, and imaginative play experiences, making it perfect for engaging children of various ages and abilities. Its thoughtful design accommodates multiple children playing simultaneously, fostering social interaction, teamwork, and gross motor skill development.
Active play on the Pico Eagle helps improve balance, coordination, and strength while encouraging children to challenge themselves physically. The log climber’s blue slides and ropes stand out beautifully against the natural green backdrop, adding a splash of colour and vibrancy to the playground. Headmaster Mr. Bertwhistle, who personally selected the blue colour, enthusiastically became the first to test the equipment.
To preserve the playground’s rich, thick grass, we used grass mats as surfacing, ensuring safety while maintaining the area’s natural aesthetic. Steel feet on the Pico Eagle prevent ground rot and protect against strimmer damage, significantly extending its lifespan. These features also simplify future maintenance, making the climber a cost-effective investment for the school.
The children loved their new log climber and were eager to explore its features during playtime. Their excitement inspired the school to invite us back to build a Reflection Room. This quiet, sheltered space provides an area for peaceful reflection or prayer, balancing the active play of the Pico Eagle with moments of mindfulness and calm.
Compton & Up Marden C of E Primary School was delighted with the outcome of both projects, which together transformed the playground into a dynamic and inclusive outdoor environment.
