At the end of 2021, a pre-school in Layer, Essex, contacted us. They had a large pre-school setting with a small outdoor play area. Unfortunately, their existing play equipment was old and had little play value for the children.
The pre-school leaders wanted one of our Buccaneer Pirate Ships. However, it wouldn’t fit in the play area’s limited space. We discussed the project with our design team and created a bespoke pirate boat. The boat was designed for early years and fit perfectly in the available space.
This is “The Layer Fortune,” designed for children up to 6 years old. Despite its size, the boat includes many play features. These include easy access stairs, a pull-up rope ramp, a slide, and a V rope bridge. Other elements include porthole domes, nautical embellishments, under-deck dens, and a skull and crossbones flag.
The children were thrilled with the Pirate Boat after returning from their half-term break!
